May Prayer Newsletter
And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Luke 10:2
Dear Friends-
For the past two years, we have prayed for workers to come help labor in the field. Each summer God has provided those workers. As our ministry began to focus on reaching certain people groups, so did our prayers for specific workers. In fact, we set phone alarms at 10:02 each day to pray specifically about workers to help reach the Hispanics, Vietnamese and East Indians.
Last summer, we were blessed to have a Spanish/English bilingual intern. Christy was a great help with PowerPlant and other teams and helping reach a growing Hispanic population in Port Arthur. She has graciously agreed to come help again this summer. We also have been blessed with a partnership with José, a lay pastor at Trinity Baptist Church.
The past two summers we have been unable to find a summer intern that were Vietnamese/ English bilingual. However through the course of many prayers and discipling two second-generation Vietnamese students, we have two Vietnamese speaking interns. Vi will be working part-time and Tammy will be working full-time. As Brent is able to work with Yen one evening a week, there will now be three translators and Brent with his ever-growing ability to speak Vietnamese.
Not only has God provided workers He has also provided resourses to pay them each a small salary. This is also an answer to our prayers as local churches and individuals have provided gifts that we have set aside to help with intern costs.
THIS SUMMER we will host 5 volunteer teams coming from near and far. We will be working in local apartment complexes and area neighborhoods to share Christ. In June, Brent will be in Austin for PowerPlant as the project coordinator. There are 170 students and adults coming to work hands-on in church planting.
Below is a list of dates and churches that are coming to Port Arthur. Please be in prayer for these teams, summer interns: Christy, Vi and Tammy and our local volunteers.
