Margie said to share this with the church family regarding Bro. David's doc=
tor's visit today:

. He is in a great deal of pain that has increased in the last couple of da=
ys. The trip to LR was hard for him today. Dr. Kim told us that the pain is=
not likely the result of the cancer having spread further into the spinal =
column. I am equally sure that it is clearly not just from the surgery. Dav=
id used little pain medication in the first few days at home. Now he needs =
medication very frequently. Initially the pain was only in his left shoulde=
r, back and head. Now it hurts the right side of his shoulders and arms as =
well as the left. We were given stronger pain pills for that. Dr. Kim didn'=
t do an MRI because he felt the swelling from surgery would distort the out=
come.> > Dr. Kim did tell us that the surgery revealed the presence of anap=
lastic thyroid cancer as well as the earlier reported papillary thyroid can=
cer. That is the bad part. The prognosis isn't good; less than 10% are cure=
d. Anaplastic is much more aggressive. The main treatment is radiation ther=
apy, and Dr. Kim said that he would set up appts. for us to see the oncolog=
ist there at the VA. I got David's records and we will see our family physi=
cian about seeing a local oncologist. The radiation is a daily treatment fo=
r 45 days. I don't think that David would feel like traveling that often, a=
nd staying in LR is too costly. Thank you for all your prayers and moral su=
pport. > > Margie
