He has some severe health problems, staph, double pneumonia, etc from 12/18 to 1/5/07. He is home now. Charley and Margaret are neighbors of ours and friends for over 20 years.</P>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Charley was put in St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville on Dec. 18 for double pneumonia. The second night he was there his breathing got so poor (very low oxygen level) that he had to be put on a ventilator and placed in ICU.. The next morning our doctor had him transferred to Baptist Health in Little Rock under the care of a pulmonologist. He stayed in ICU with a ventilator for a week. While there it was found that he had MRSA staph (not good) and was kept highly sedated most of that time. He was then transferred into a private room where he stayed for two days and one night. Then----Dr. Rector told us that while in the medical ICU, Charley had been exposed to another bacteria called acinetobacter (also MRSA) and was being transferred to a special ICU unit where he would be in isolation (actually quarantined) for 10
days. There were 5 other patients that we know of that had the same bacteria to show up in their system. He was allowed to have visitors, but we had to wear special gowns and rubber gloves which were thrown away when we left the room. I finally got to bring Charley home last Friday, Jan. 5. As you can see we spent Christmas and New Year's Eve. in the hospital. </FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2> </FONT><FONT face=Arial size=2>Charley has lost about 25 lbs. through this ordeal and is still on some very strong antibiotics ($90.00 per pill for 20 days). He is doing much better now that he is home, but it's going to be a slow recovery. Dr. Rector said that he should not be in large crowds including church until the "cold and flu" season is over, because his immune system is very much at risk just now.</FONT></DIV>
